In school years Bill was the freak of his home village. Now half of Europe bows in front of Tokio Hotel's front man.
If the German classes are full this year, the thanks belongs to German pop-rock band Tokio Hotel. The mania this band has caused has spread from Germanu to Europe all around and not least because of the vocalist Bill Kaulitz and his twin brother Tom who plays guitar.
In Tokio Hotel, which comes from German village Loitsche, there is also drummer Gustav Schäfer and base player Georg Listing. Bill Kaulitz told about his feelings in rising fame to Demi.
-Everything still feels like a dream. It's already hard for us to believe that we succeeded in Germany. This is unbeliveble! Bill says.
You're very close with Tom. What happens if one of you gets married, has a family and moves elsewhere?
-That's hard to predict. Tom and I have a special bonding. We only have to look at each other and we know what the other is gonna say. I believe that we will never draw away from each other.
Despite of the twin relationship the brothers are different. Tom, who dresses in lose hiphop clothes, is known as a wild lady's man as the ten minutes younger Bill is known as polite, sensitive romantic.
What kind of girl do you dream of?
-I think the Olsen twins are cute but I don't have a specific dream girl. When I meet her it just has to click, single-Bill says.
THE STYLE WAS CREATED ON HALLOWEEN
Bill's unusual style-black hair, strong eye-makeup and tight clothes- has brought up affection and criticism.
When was your style born?
-Everything began long time ago when I dressed up as a vampire to a Halloween party. I really liked my costume and from that on it has been my look.
You were teased at school bacause you were different. What would you say to those people now?
-I would tell them the same things I told them then. I already needed freedom in school and I didn't want to get stuck in rules. I was really confident and determined. I'm not afraid to defend myself and fight for my freedom and indivituality.
You and Tom are currently studying through Internet. How's that working out for you?
-It's working, but slowly, Bill laughs.
LYRICS ARE IMPORTANT
Tokio Hotel has released two German albums, Schrei and Zimmer 483. In JUne the band released an English album Scream.
Is it hard for you to sing songs in English?
-Yes, recording in English was a big challenge but I'm proud of the result. Our lyrics are very important to us so we want that everyone has a possibility to understand them.
What has been the most interesting fan-meeting of your tour?
-It's completely impossible to name only one meeting. Wherever we we perform, the fans are always there to wish us welcome. It's so unbelievble how much trouble they go through for us.
Tokio Hotel's name comes from that you spend so much time in Hotels and you would one day wanna play in Tokio. Is that dream coming true any time soon?
-I would really wanna perform in Tokio but at least for now nothing has been comfirmed.
TO FINLAND IN SEPTEMBER
The wish of Finnish fans will come true when Tokio Hotel performs in Elämä Lapselle-concert (Life for a Child) in September.
What do you look forward to of your visite in Finland?
-We've heard that we're talked about a lot in Finland. We really look forward to see our Finnish fans for the first time.
The readers of Demi know that you like you like fastfood and wonder if it's possible to crash into you in Hamburger restaurants during your visite.
-Of course it's possible. Bill smiles.
